Chernin brings decades of diversified business experience to the Solairus board.
SAN FRANCISCO (Nov 16, 2010) –
Solairus Aviation announced today that Phil Chernin has joined the company’s board of directors. Chernin started his career at the CPA firm of Ernst and Young as a member of the technology group working on Sperry, Intel and Apple. Chernin has been the CEO and CFO of both technology and consumer companies and now has his own investment banking firm in Lafayette, CA. Chernin has been around aviation his entire life; his father was a founder of the all-cargo Seaboard World Airways.
Chernin holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin and an MBA from Cal State-Hayward with additional graduate work at UC-Berkeley. Chernin has also taught in the MBA program at Golden Gate University, as well as extension classes for UCLA, UC-Berkeley, and the California CPA Society.
Chernin believes that Solairus is positioned for continued growth in the business aviation industry.
“I’m thrilled to be a part of the team,” Chernin stated. “The company’s growth curve is very exciting and we are now in a position to play a pivotal role in this highly fragmented industry. The management team has done an excellent job putting all of the pieces together. Creating a company of this magnitude during the current economic climate shows how extraordinary Solairus’ capabilities truly are.”
Solairus President John King has been impressed with Chernin’s overall business acumen and capabilities.
“Phil and I have worked together on several projects in the past and I am very excited that he will be joining us here at Solairus,” King said. “As we look to expand into new territories, creative solutions to complex obstacles will become increasingly important. I have seen firsthand how Phil has distinguished himself in the business world; his expertise and contributions are certain to make a positive impact on Solairus’ future.”
Solairus Chairman and CEO Dan Drohan is pleased with the company’s recent expansion to its board of directors.
“I’ve believed from day one that the people at Solairus are by far our greatest asset,” Drohan stated. “Phil joining our board is the latest high caliber addition to an already impressive team, one that I am highly confident will take Solairus to great places. The business aviation industry has a unique and complex combination of opportunities and challenges right now. We will rely on Phil, and the rest of the board, to help make the strategic decisions necessary to increase Solairus’ phenomenal growth.”
